My Daughter Is Getting Married!

We are thrilled to announce that our daughter will be getting married to a wonderful man!

My husband took both our girls to Europe to see the art and experience life there.  Her boyfriend flew over and surprised her with a ring. He asked her to marry him in Italy! We have known this secret and kept it for nearly a year. What a thrill for her, and yes, she did say, "Yes!"
                               Philippians 4:6
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. "

I have been praying for Victoria and all of my children since they were tiny. God has answered this prayer so wonderfully in giving Blake to her.

When God Make Things Right

A long time ago I wrote a post about someone who had said mean things about me. She was an 80 year old Russian lady named Anna who had never met me. Anna loathed me, but I think it was because she did not know that daughter-in-laws can love their mother-in-laws deeply. Here is the post I wrote six years ago:This morning I mentioned someone had gossiped about me. After looking it up the real definition is slander. An 80 year old woman, Anna, spoke untrue hurtful words about me and my husband to my elderly mother-in-law in order to turn her away from us. This woman has been telling these lies to her church. I do not claim to be like Ruth from the Bible but, I will tell you I have prayed most of my life to be that kind of daughter-in-law. I love, Vivian, my mother-in-law. I keep wondering why Anna, who does not know us, would speak this way against us. What makes her tick? What's the heart issue here?

When hurtful mean things are stated as tho they are facts and expressed with a twist to persuade a person to think or feel the way they want them to it is so wrong. This unkind woman, Anna, has a daughter-in-law who hurts her and keeps the grandchildren away from her, and now has left her son for another man. I believe Anna may assume all daughter-in-laws are this way. I'm sad for her if this is what she thinks and for her suffering. My action plan is to pray for Anna. I am also praying she will meet me and see that I am good to Vivian and to stop spreading lies and speaking evil against us.
Thank you for listening and praying for me. I know the things spoken cannot hurt me because they are not true, they could, however hurt my relationship with Vivian. I believe in the power of prayer and especially for praying for my enemies. The last thing Satan expected was for Anna to receive prayer; prayer for love, peace, joy, happiness and good things to happen to her.
"You have heard that it was said, `Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, Matthew 5:43 and 44
Now, here is the saddest, but also the best part of all of this story. Even though it is very hard for me, for I am grieving, because... Vivian, my mother-in-law, is dying .
You might say, "Why is that the best part of all?" What I mean is the healing that has taken place is the best part of all. Vivian loves me. At the Alzheimer's care facility, they say, I am the one she praises constantly. That, in itself is such a beautiful blessing from God, but there is one more...
Because Vivian is Catholic, I called her church to let them know, and I got to talk with 86 year-old Anna. At first I was nervous, but God gave me such a love for this dear lady. Over the past six years God softened her heart and mine. She was so sweet and I wanted to be sweet right back. She thanked me for calling her. She praised me and told me I could handle this and most anything. She was very sad to hear about Vivian, but she was so glad that I called her. Now I am feeling such love for Anna. I want to go and visit her. Isn't God good?
               Proverbs 17:9
"Whoever would foster love covers over an offense,
but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends."

First Day of School 2009

It's that time of year again. I'm always a bit melancholy when summer is over. This is our second year of having all four of our children enrolled in public school. Last year I had a very hard time with this and I cried. This year I am doing much better.

The older kids wanted to get an early start. Victoria is checking one more thing before getting into the car.
Harrison looks ready and excited for his new fall schedule.
And off they go. I will miss this so much. We had such a good summer. It's hard to believe it's over.
Jessica and Garrett are also ready to go.
One last hug for Daddy before leaving.
Garrett has a very kind and compassionate teacher. I am so thankful. I prayed for this during the summer and God answered my prayer.
I'm home missing my kids, but enjoying the quiet too. I will keep busy and can some peaches today. I will plant these pretty flowers today or tomorrow.

I just started THE PATRIARCHS by Beth Moore. I love this time to be with my Lord and learn new things from His Word. I'm already enjoying some new things. I love God's Word and I am so thankful that it is so readily available to us. Well, the kids are now home, and my peaches are canned. I can't wait to hear how their day at school went. Bless you Dear Friends and I hope you are all enjoying the pretty fall weather ~ Kathi

I Am Reaping A Harvest

I Am Reaping A Harvest! The Lord Is Faithful. He Saw Me On My Knees Years Ago.

It's wonderful to see the godly choices children make when their heads and hearts are in God's Word. Love this girl, and love to see her seeking the Lord and desiring God's presence in her life. I am so happy she met Blake. He is a wonderful young man. They have been dating for over a year.
I am reaping a harvest of good things! God is answering the prayers I prayed when this daughter of mine, Victoria, was just tiny. I began praying for her future boyfriend and eventually, a husband when she was first born. Thank you Lord, for Your faithfulness.

There Once Was A Girl

She was a small town girl with big dreams. My mother-in-law, Vivian loved shopping and glamour.  She loved make-up and high heels.
One day she and her college friend decided to go to town and get their photo taken. Here is her glamour shot. This portrait hung on the wall near her husband's side of the bed their whole married life. When she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease the picture hung in my home for awhile.
After Vivian married she worked as a school teacher for several years. She taught business and home economics classes for about ten years. They began to have children and moved out west to run a dairy farm.  Her life was not so glamorous during the farming days. She had to milk cows twice a day. I hope to find a picture of her with the cows to show you soon. In later years, she went back to substitute teaching, and enjoyed the lipstick and fancy clothes again. The Lord gave her a daughter, daughter-in-law, and three granddaughters to dress up and go shopping with. I love my mother-in-law. I am thankful she still remembers us right now.

Last month this treasured portrait of Vivian went to its new home with Kara (left), her daughter, and granddaughter (purple top). Our family said goodbye to the photo. These are the new glamour girls, her daughter and three granddaughters.

Pray For Your Enemies

There are people Satan does not want me to pray for: People who hurt me.
Who do I choose to pray for? Those who hurt me.
Could it be that the Lord does not tell us that He has assigned certain people to us, people who He knows will hurt us, for the sole purpose of seeing if we will use our free will to obey Him? Could it be that the most powerful prayers are those that are prayed by a hurt person who chooses to love and pray for the ones who hurt her? I am beginning to believe this to be true in my life.
Jesus said this:
"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Matt. 5:44

Joy Cometh In the Morning!

I'm so blessed. I got to enjoy seeing my daughter Victoria and her boyfriend Blake, before they left for school this morning. It's the little joys that add up! Thank you Lord!
