This is our first year to grow artichokes. They are really just a giant thistle. Did you know?
Our Aunt Dorothy steamed them and served them with hot melted butter, so I thought I'd give it a try. I read that I must clip the sharp and bristly tips.
This is how they look after clipping.
I also read that I should steam them upside down for 40 minutes. Before I did this, I soaked them in warm salty water and lots of bugs floated to the top. Thought I'd mention this, in case you don't like hot steamed bugs. I know I don't. Anyway, bugs got rinsed down the drain before steaming.
After steaming, take individual leaves, dip in warm, salty and peppery butter. Yum!! Enjoy! Blessings, Kathi "It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field." Genesis 3:18
