Pray For Anyone Who Is Mean or Unkind to You

There are people Satan does not want me to pray for: People who hurt me, talk about in hurtful ways behind my back, those who listen to the gossip and enjoy hearing it, and those who try to make me feel small so that they can feel superior over me.

Who do I choose to pray for? Those who hurt me, talk about me in hurtful ways behind my back, those who listen to the gossip and enjoy hearing it, and those who try to make me feel small so that they can feel superior over me.
Could it be that the Lord does not tell us that He has assigned certain people, people who He knows will hurt us, for the sole purpose of to seeing if we will use our free will to obey Him? Could it be that the most powerful prayers are those that are prayed by a hurt person who chooses to love and pray for the one who hurt her? I am beginning to believe this to be true in my life. Jesus said this:
"But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you." Matt. 5:44

Saying Goodbye, but Not For Long!

Me, saying good-bye, but not for long. I will see my Daddy, soon, in Heaven. As I spoke with my precious father, I asked him, "Do you know what's happening? He smiled and said, "Yes, I am going to be with the Lord." Praise God for His promises.

"We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."

God Gave Me A Husband

I am so blessed. I thank God for this man. I love this man!
Genesis 2:22-23
"Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.
The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.”

Missing My Mother

I am thankful to God for my mother. She was so good to me when I was little. She tought me manners and social skills. She built my conscience and helped me to fear God. She is with Jesus now. I miss her.
This photo was taken when she was about 40 years old. She passed away one month ago, and I have not cried yet.
This was about 1967, at the beach. I know it was Sunday, because Mom just had her hair done and protected it with her scarf.
This was a special day; Dad and Mom's 40th anniversary. We thank God they loved each other for a life-time.
This is last summer Mom pushing Dad in his wheel chair. I know the flood gates will open soon and I will cry and cry for my sweet mama. I think I may be in denial. I thank God for loving parents. I am truly blessed.

She Will Be Missed...

I have watched Gwen Ifill on PBS News Hour for many years.  Gwen Ifill was the first African-American woman to co-anchor a national news broadcast. She was professional and likable. I can say that because I liked her and I appreciated her intelligence and desire to delve into the facts.  Gwen Ifill passed away today at the age of 61. She will be missed.

Halloween Party In the Barn

What a weekend! Our fifteen year old son wanted to have a Halloween party with his friends from school. What better place than in our barn? It already had cob webs and the fun scary elements of a creaky old building and dark stair case. As long as we had plenty of food we knew kids would show up, and they did!
The plans began with five different kinds of pizza from Papa Murphy's. We added salad, cider, pop, desserts and popcorn.
We decorated with pumpkins, gourds, fake spiders and skeletons, and a few things from Dollar Tree.
Indoor and outdoor games. Don't forget the glow sticks for playing "kick the can" in the dark.

 More treats.

 Playing "Mafia" and "Signs."
What is lurking up those stairs?
Come a little closer and I will show you.
 Come now, don't be scared.

Sorry these are blurry. My wonderful husband rented a projector and set up a screen (white sheet) for the movie, that our son Garrett chose.
The movie was, "Young Frankenstein,
with Gene Wilder
This is funny scary not gory. It's just enough to make you jump.

I think the kids really had fun. There were lots of smiles and lots of laughter.
Our son and his friends want to do it again, so I know we will.

                                  Isaiah 41:10
"Don't panic. I am with you. There's no need to fear for I am your God. I'll give you strength. I'll help you. I'll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you."

I Got Something Done Today...

I white-washed my bathroom today.
It's amazing how a little bit of white paint can make a room look fresh and new again.
I took the knobs off the drawers and sanded all the surfaces, then I painted. I live in an older farm house, so most things are due for an update. Rather than spending a ton of money I thought a fresh coat of paint would suffice.
Psalm 51:7
"Cleanse me with hyssop and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow."

Cheat Day

Oh dear...I have cheated on my diet.
 What did I eat? Well...
I did not want to cheat, but it just happened. It all started with a cookie, just one bite. I did not want to hurt my daughter's feelings (Victoria, who made the cookies). Next, my hubby and I were out on a fun day together and we sort of ended up at Voodoo Doughnuts. After that we had lunch at Hole In the Wall Barbecue...
Now, how can you say no? We then bought pizza for a party our son is having, and well, I already cheated so, why not? Okay, so to make myself feel better about this, I have declared this "Cheat Day," and there is no guilt involved. Why no guilt? Because I know that tomorrow morning I will have my usual bacon and eggs, no sugar, no carbs, and I will eat lots of good fat. I love love love my diet, which is really a life-style. I have easily, without feeling deprived, lost 14 pounds. Here is part of the proof...
I have also lost two inches from each thigh...
Why is it okay for me to "cheat" on my diet, but it is not okay for me to cheat on God's laws? After pondering this, I believe this might be the answer. I think it is because I set up the rules for my diet, and it is God who sets the rules for His law. One thing that is the same is that, honestly, I did not want to cheat on my diet today, nor did I even have the desire. I love love love this life-style diet so much that I was NOT wanting to stray from it.  Nor do I want to stray from God's laws and commands. I do not want to break fellowship with Him. I see how easily it is to accidentally fall into sin though. God tells us in His Word to be careful. I look forward to getting right back. I love the way I feel and the new look I see in the mirror with the paleo (I also eat dairy) diet. I can't even say I worked hard to get this thin. The pounds fell off in seconds, over yummy bacon and eggs with cheese and sour cream. When I read God's Word, that is how I feel. I feel good. I rejoice in it. I feel close to the Lord.  It is not work to read the Bible, it is pleasure. I do not want to stray from Him or His Word. His Word benefits me. I see results when I read it.

Psalm 141:4
"Do not let my heart be drawn to what is evil..."
John 4:32
Jesus told them, "I have food to eat that you do not know about."

The VIP Treatment

Are you a VIP? I guess we are...or I guess we were, for a day. My husband and I got to see the game from one of those very special booths. They have supreme seats, glassed in for warmth, and food galore. There were dips and sauces, sea food, and wings, wine and soft drinks, desserts and more. We were treated like kings. We were treated like we were important.

What would it be like to be given such regard and honor regularly? Would one get tired of it? Or perhaps forget to be thankful for it? The last game we attended we sat down in the end zone. My hands  and toes were so cold I could not feel them. Rain drizzled on us for two hours, oh, but we enjoyed the game, don't get me wrong. I appreciated the fact that we had tickets. This though was the creme de la creme. We could not get over it. We were treated like royalty.
According to the Bible God sees each of us as "very important people," to Him.
We are part of His royal family. Let's remember that. He loves us so much. Some day we will see Him face to face. Right now we go through hard times and times of testing our faith. Some day we will be in a completely different world, where we will have no more hard times; only good and glorious times.
Remember that Jesus died for you and me, He rose from the grave and He is alive, He is coming back for you and me, and we will see Him face- to-face. You are a VIP and so am I. What's funny about this world is that we think we are important if we are waited upon. The kingdom of God sees being the waiter and servant as the important role. I can't wait to talk to Jesus about these things. Serving others has always brought blessing to me, so I know it is true, whether it be teaching vacation Bible school, or giving away my apples. If you want to be great in God's kingdom, learn to serve.

                            1 Corinthians 13:12
"What we see now is like a dim image in a mirror; then we shall see face-to-face. What we know now is only partial; then it will be complete--as complete as God's knowledge of me."

Dudn't It Give You A Lift?...

Dudn't it give you a lift?", when I mentioned her new kitchen towels. My mother-in-law, Vivian, emphatically stated, those words as she delightedly displayed and touched her new, "Tea Towels," as she called them, yes, "Tea Towels." I love it that I know some new words and expressions because of her.

Here I am 30 years later doing the same thing with drip bowls. "Drip bowls?" What are those? What dreary words for something simple that brings me a tiny spark of joy. Here they are...

Yep, my shiny aluminum rings that encase my stove elements. Such a small thing, but oh, by the end of canning season, it's time for a change, and yes, the new ones bring a spark of joy. Oh, by the way, "Dudn't, according to the urban dictionary, means:  Oklahoma contraction, mixing didn't and doesn't, therefore covering both past and present tense jointly. I miss my dear mother-in-law. This month marks one year of her passing. I am thankful for her memory, but I miss her, and I am grateful that I will again see her some day.
                               John 13:5
"After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples' feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around Him."
